In Character
Name: Ares
Canon: Lions Tigers and Bears.
Canon Point: After Volume 2 and the defeat of Valthraxx.
Sex/Gender: M
Actual Age/Apparent Age: 4 or 5. He's a tiger which means that's fully grown.
Belongings: N/A
Skills and Powers: Given that he's a magical stuffed animal he has the power to shapeshift into his stuffed animal form and his regular sized Tiger form, both with the same blue glowing eyes.
Otherwise he has all the strength of a large male Bengal tiger, and the ability to talk. Being a cat, all the standards apply, claws, teeth, cat reflexes and agility.
He can also communicate quite well in english.
Physical Description: Ares is a large white male Bengal tiger with glowing blue eyes. From tip to tail he's ten feet long and weighs 550 pounds. A bit heavier than the average male he's very well built and athletic, with muscle mass centered around his forearms and shoulders to his chest. His hind legs are more slender lending to a more agile creature despite his weight.
The weight is mostly an illusion given that he is in fact a stuffed animal brought to life by imagination. In the library that clearly makes no difference. However, when wounded he shift into his stuffed animal form which would conceivably allow someone to repair any tears he has in his body or reattach a limb.
He walks like cat who knows what he's doing, someone who's been around long enough to know or at least think he knows how the world works. He's full of infallible confidence which is bleeds out through his cocky smile and his powerful gait.
Book Description: Basically the cover is the same as the first book in he first volume of his series, a thick young adult novel sized book with a slick soft cover. On the spine it reads, Vol 1 and has his face on the top of it. On the back, some information and more pictures along with writing and artist credits. It's not a graphic novel, but it very well could be by the looks of it. Otherwise it's just a traditional book.
History: Abner Donlolley was the head and sole maker of the Stuffed Animal Kingdom stuffed animal line. As a child, Abner knew with his heart the magic and fun that a stuffed animal could give a child, and after encounters with the beasties in his youth, he knew he needed to help create more animals to protect the children from the nasty creatures that hid in the closet and children's imagination.
On every box and tag, he wrote these words: "A child's instinctual need for the comfort of a stuffed animal is rooted in a reality long forgotten by the adult world. The hidden truth is that these companions have been defending children since the dawn of time. Follow young Joey on the adventure of a lifetime as he travels through the Stuffed Animal Kingdom, a journey that puts the fate of all the world's children in his hands and brings him face to face with his destiny."
The beasties were real, and a real threat to children everywhere. Ares and the night pride were given to Joey Price by his grandmother when he moved to another town. A scared little boy, he didn't quite know how to adjust to a new town.
It wasn't long until the beasties came for him and the stuffed animals he received were put on patrol for the first time, duty bound to protect him. But it wasn't until the next night that through an accident, Joey found out about the stuffed animal and the world of his imagination, by being pulled through a portal. Ares and the night pride chased off the beasties only to realize that they couldn't just bring Joey home, instead they had to go discuss the matter with King Bear.
On the journey there, Ares made quick friends with his small compadre, allowing the young boy to ride on his back. They make it to the castle, King bear training Joey on how to use his imagination and how it can be used against him. Not only that, but what he needs to do to help all the animals in the kingdom. Moving forward, the group heads off to try and stop the beasties from getting Courtney Donnally, the daughter of the man who currently makes the stuffed animals come to life.
They were too late, and the beasties drag her back through a portal, trailed quickly by the Nightpride. The trail leads into a deep wooded area, legendarily haunted by ghosts of fallen soldiers. Not surprisingly, they are attacked by ghosts, but in reality they're just dummies set up to fool Joey's imagination into making them real, and therefor giving them power. In the struggle, real beasties come out including one called Crunch. He effectively overwhelms the already disorientated and beats Ares into a pulp in the conflict. The rest of the nightpride think he's dead.
Soon later, Joey catches up to the group, reviving Ares and the two of them fight back, using Joey's imagination as a power and causing the cave to collapse. After a ceremonious victory, the nightpride returned home with Joey and life resumed as normal alongside the boy.
Months later, a betrayal occurred within the kingdom. King Bear's brother betrayed the kingdom to the Beasties, allowing Valthraxx to come in and take over, using the magic of the kingdom to send his beasties out to kidnap children at large for the consumption of his crew.
After a fierce battle, the Night pride once again comes to retrieve Joey and Courtney for their assistance in this conflict. Not soon after leaving, the beasties break the portal, sending the Group spiraling into darkness, eventually landing in the snowy north of the kingdom. They meet with the polar bear guardsman Marco and eventually start to make their way down to the castle through the caves. During that time they find out more details of the ambush and press on to confront Valthraxx.
During the battle, Joey is knocked unconscious and a full out war begins between the animals and the beasties. Joey is revived, only to go help Ares and Venus try and save King Bear from being executed. They are however too late, so Joey and Courtney attack using their imaginary friend Henry Bear and a few other fallen old soldiers. Courtney reveals she can bring bears back to life which forces Valthraxx and his peons to fall back. It's then that Joey goes to confront his fears and face Valthraxx, but inevitably gets grabbed as Valthraxx makes to fly off. It's Ares to the rescue, jumping and clawing at Valthraxx forcing him to drop Joey, but allowing Valthraxx to escape.
Once everything was resolved, and King Bear's son was set to the throne, all of the children were sent home with their stuffed animals safe and sound, along with Joey and Courtney.
Personality: Ares. The big guy. The muscle. The warrior of the night. All of these things describe him pretty well even if the latter is somewhat on the formal side. He's a member of the night pride, and he takes his job pretty seriously. Be it a command from Pallo or Venus he's there to follow through on their standing order: protect Joey Price from the beasties. Most of the time? Not a problem, not while he's with the kid most of the day when he's not at school. Best friends and all. But when the Beasties decide to cause trouble, he's there on the front lines to do his job, just as duty bound as any other cat on his team.
While he's as serious as his fellow warriors, with a sense of duty to match the no nonsense Pallo, he's far more dynamic than his leader. He's prone to crack jokes even when fighting, his sharp wit just as scathing as his claws are. He tends to keep a pretty good attitude, even in the darkest points where he has to, keeps him and his team on their toes so to speak. Despite his being loaded by sarcasm he's also very compassionate and friendly towards the people who he cares for, even strangers. He can be cocky without being cavalier, impulsive without being reckless and only when he knows it's appropriate. He is an elite warrior after all.
He never is one to just bolt out blindly into danger, he knows what he's doing and what needs to be done. What the team needs he'll do, and if that means waiting for the right moment to strike, he's there. He might be a power player but he's not a one man army, he needs the support of his team as much as they need him. They complement each other. Never having been away from the team, he may feel isolated and alone. His emotions are somewhat tied to both his team and the boy he belongs with, his best friend Joey. Without the team, he might seek out other people to give his loyalty to for the duration of his stay in any place without the Night Pride.
Despite being more or less mature or professional as far as being on his team goes, he does tend to wear his feelings on his sleeve. He's very expressive, his body language and expression showing how he feels even if he doesn't express it verbally, although he often does. That's not to say he's emotional or overly so, he's just more likely to display it through his body language or express it than the rest of the Night Pride, a trait which allowed him to bond so quickly to Joey Price.

First Person/Action brackets: [You see a big white tiger leering down at this thing as it faces up on the floor. He tries to scoop it up so he can look better at it, and he eventually just picks it up by his teeth and leans it against a stack of books.]
Hellooo. Alright. I got it-- I think I got it. Musta.. Ahem. Ah.
I've been told you can talk to the rest of you on this thing, but I'm not all that sure what to say. Not exactly familiar with you adults hate to say but that's alright. I'm flexible. So the name's Ares. Member of the Night Pride. Shame you haven't heard but we've got some street cred with your inner child. Trust me.
Anyway, can anyone help me tie this bookmark doohicky around my neck?
Third Person/Prose: Draped across the chair with the book folded over his thigh and flank, Ares wakes up with a start, jerking his head up. Wha? Aah? Where is he? How'd he--
He wasn't even stuffed! He looked at his huge paw, staring at it in disbelief as he dropped from the couch onto the floor, the book falling as well. He winced slightly, as if he'd bonked his head. He reached his paw over and drew it over to him, pulling it so it lay flat on the back. Oh?
“That's me. Nice drawing.” He smiled a bit, then turned his head to the rest of the room. How odd. This is the human world but he's not in his other form? He shouldn't worry much, other adults shouldn't be able to see him, in theory. So instead, he turns his head around to look 'round the room for anything that might indicate just where he was.
Then the hologram went off, giving him the a few words of information, namely the name of this place.
“A library? Which one? This doesn't look like the one on Smith or the one in the castle.” He shook his head, then moving to grab the book his jaws and leaving the room to explore.
“Rorry? Allo?” He said with his mouth clasped around the book. Eeh, that wasn't working for him. Crud! He moved onwards, trailing on one of the top floor of a balcony style hall, overlooking every floor below. He lifts up on his hind paws and hangs his front over the railing, looking down in wonder at all the books. Biggest library he's been in. Then his brain took over, and he whipped his head around.
“Joey!” He called out.
“HEY! JOEY!” If he was here in the waking world, not sure why he was unconscious in the first place, than it meant only one thing. Joey was in danger and he was a fool for letting someone get the best of him.
Just like the last time. He growls and starts running down the hall, forgetting the book where he'd dropped it in the hall but by the time he got to the edge of the hall, skidding to a stop as the floor gave out, he noticed something below, a strange man on a horse of some kind, but he didn't dare move forward. He was wise enough in that. But what was it? Something from the shadowlands?
The horse galloped and Ares watched it go, following it was a pair of blue and black creatures that looked somewhat like the dinosaurs he'd seen in one of Joey's books. Aaah. Okay. Best go back.
He prowled slowly back to the place he'd dropped his book, scowling with his ears pinned back. If Joey wasn't here, then where was he? How was he supposed to find him? He looked down at the book, at the drawing of the little boy.
“Now what?”
